  36. To install IRC, load the following files into your PACKCLUS\DB directory:

  38.    IRC.LIS    Shown to user if no argument used with SH/IRC
  39.    IRC.FUL    The database file
  40.    IRC.IDX    The database index
  41.    IRC.PRE    Shown to user before the specific request
  42.    IRC.NF     Shown to user if requested information not found
  43.    IRC.AOK    Shown to user if update is attempted

  45. NOTE:  The database index may not always be included.  If it is missing,
  46.        you will need to perform the following using the MAKEIDX utility:
  47.  
  48.        MAKEIDX IRC.FUL 1000

  50. Next, add the following lines to your SYSOP.DAT file:

  52. SET/COMMAND IRC IRC.LIS IRC.FUL/IRC.IDX IRC.PRE * IRC.NF
  53. SET/COMMAND/COMMENT IRC  Number of IRC's required for return DX mail

  55. If you did not shut down the node to install the database, type in the
  56. above two lines as SYSOP commands.

  58. After reviewing the DOC files, PBT_DB.DOC and IRC.DOC, you may delete them
  59. from your database directory.  You should store the database ZIP file in a
  60. save place.

  64. Other nodes may access the database from the SERVING node by adding lines
  65. to their SYSOP.DAT and/or typing in the lines as a command.  If the callsign
  66. of the node where the database is installed is WB6EXC, then the other nodes
  67. would execute the following commands:

  81. database files into the directory shown in the SET/DIRECTORY line of their
  82. SYSOP.DAT file.  If no entry, install in same directory where PCDB resides.

  133. IRC's currently are priced at $0.95 at U.S. postal centers.   The
  134. period of exchange of IRC's issued by the Universal Postal Union on
  135. or after January 1, 1975 is unlimited.

  137. One IRC is exchangeable in any other member country for a stamp or
  138. stamps representing the minimum postage on an unregistered surface
  139. letter.  Upon presentation of a sufficient number of IRC's, the stamp
  140. or stamps received in exchange may be used to prepay an international
  141. airmail letter.  Unused U.S. IRC's may be exchanged only for United
  142. States postage stamps by the original purchaser at a discount of
  143. 1 cent below the purchase price.  (International Mail Manual, Issue 6,
  144. Section 392.3a)

  146. IRC's purchased in foreign countries are exchangeable at U.S. post
  147. offices toward the purchase of postage stamps, postage meter stamps,
  148. and embossed stamped envelopes (including aerogrammes) at the rate
  149. of 40 cents per IRC, irrespective of the country where it was purchased.

  154. STYLES
  155. IRC's (in French, "Coupons-Response Internationaux") are printed in
  156. blue ink on paper which has the letters UPU in large characters in the
  157. watermark.  The front of each is printed in French.  The reverse side
  158. of the IRC shows the text relating to its use in German, English, Arabic,
  159. Chinese, Spanish, and Russian.  (International Mail Manual, Issue 6,
  160. Section 392.1b)

  162. Reply coupons issued by foreign countries prior to January 1, 1975 are
  163. no longer redeemable at U.S. post offices.  These old-style IRC's are
  164. distinquishable from the newer IRC's printed by the International Bureau
  165. of the Universal Postal Union, because the name of the country of origin
  166. is always present on the old-style IRC's.  (International Mail Manual,

  169. Reply coupons formerly issued by the Postal Union of the Americas and
  170. Spain are no longer valid.  These IRC's are printed in green ink and
  171. bear the caption "Coupon Respuesta America-Espanol".  (International
